SPRING 2025 Divis Ed Classics Club (enduring novels!)
For ages 12+
There are just certain stories that every youth can benefit from reading in order to be culturally literate and to receive some important life lessons vicariously. The Divis Ed Classics Club will help bring these enduring, impactful stories to our minds and hearts as we examine a book or two a month on a biweekly basis--on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month. The selections will mostly be Newbery Award Winners or Newbery Honor Books suitable for middle school and high school readers. We'll discuss genre, historical / author context, and various literary elements of each as well as life issues and personal reactions that arise--the meaningful aspects that stay with us and make us enjoy!
While there is no supply fee, note that participants will be responsible for securing their own copies of the selection via library, used book stores, borrowing from me (if I have extra copies), or new through a local book store or online retailer.
Feel free to contact the instructor to clarify whether this session would be a good fit for your child. There is room to be flexible!
