For those turning 14+ (Adults are welcome, too!)

Through the Divis Ed Readers' Theatre, teens will explore classic plays out loud, the way they were intended to be enjoyed! Participants will have fun and gain skill using their voices and other forms of body language to bring the characters to life. Occasionally, we may utilize light props and costumes.

Participants will need to secure a copy of the featured play--this time Arthur Miller's The Crucible--through a retailer, second-hand shop, or the library system for free. Note that you may request a copy through the PINES system if the local branch is out of copies!

Readers' Theatre is limited to teens, as plays selected may require more advanced comprehension skills and ability to cope with complex (often tragic) situations and themes. The Crucible features the Salem "witch trials" of 1692. It's a fictionalized account that explores themes of reputation, hysteria, and the dangers of conformity.

At the conclusion of our reading, those interested will plan a time to attend Macon Little Theatre's production of The Crucible here in Macon! PLEASE NOTE that MLT ticket costs are NOT covered by your contributions to Divis Ed's Readers' Theatre.

Meets on Thursdays in March from 6:45-8:00 P.M. Participation is open to the public, but spaces are limited.
